With its steeple shape and soaring interior space, this gathering space was designed by Iredale Architecture as a modern adaptation of a traditional church structure. Constructed for the Doig River First Nation, the community center is modernly unique amidst its natural surroundings of birch and aspen trees. Sansin Purity Clear in matte sheen brings out the beauty of the wood on the soaring ceilings made of slats of spruce and beautiful beams. Below the gathering space, a children’s learning area, kitchen, and meeting room occupy the lower level. The building is Passive House Institute US (PHIUS) certified – one of the most northern PHIUS certified buildings in North America and the first passive house community building on First Nations land.
