Sansin was the exclusive provider of wood protection for the first Kappe Architects designed home built outside North America. The residence is located near Berlin and features redwood imported from California, Douglas Fir beams, Iroko molding and Red Oak flooring. The wood was protected with Precision Coat SDF, Precision Coat SDF Topcoat and Precision Coat WoodForce. The home was designed by a firm founded by Ray Kappe (1927-2019), who was noted for his Southern California modern aesthetic. The homeowner, Lars Triesch, selected Sansin for its experience with wood protection on various species. He also appreciated Sansin’s consulting service that resulted in the right combination of products for the desired protection and aesthetic. “We selected Sansin initially for its experience working with redwood – that’s knowledge that is hard to find in Germany. But as we learned more about Sansin’s products, we knew we wanted to use them for all the wood on the house,” he said.
